Unit 1

  Life Plans.

A personal life plan is a roadmap that helps you prioritize what is most important to you, make decisions based on your priorities, and move toward the life you want. You must have a clear path for what you want, but you must also be flexible.

PERFEC MODALS...

Perfect modals take a modal verb (could, should, must, could/may) and combine it with a perfect tense phrase (have + past participle)

EXAMPLE:

Ellos deben haber ido a la playa.

They must have gone to the beach.

Sujeto + Modal + have + Participio + Resto de Frase

Ellos deberían haber ido a la playa.

They should have gone to the beach.

COULD: The perfect modal 'could have' is used to indicate a possibility that took place in the past but was not carried out.

Ellos podrían haber jugado al fútbol.

They could have played football.

MAY / MIGHT: We use the perfect modals 'may have' and 'might have' to make an assumption about something that took place in the past

Él puede haber visitado a su familia.

He may have visited his family.

Él podría haber visitado a su familia.

He might have visited his family.

MUST: The modal 'must have' to give a comment on the past based on something obvious.

Mary debe haber comprado un nuevo coche.

Mary must have bought a new car.

SHOULD: The modal 'should have' (also 'ought to have') is used to show a complaint or to indicate that your expectations have not been met.

Ellos deberían haber traído música a la fiesta.

They should have brought music to the party.

WOULD: The modal 'would have' is used to indicate that something could have happened, but for some reason it did not happen.

Ellos habrían ido a la fiesta, pero estaban cansados.

They would have gone to the party, but they were tired.
