Holiday events across the world all have something in common: each festivity brings forth glee and holiday cheer for families. traditions connect individuals and families.
Grammar
When you determine whether to use who or that, keep these simple guidelines in mind:
- Who is always used to refer to people.
- That is always used when talking about inanimate objects (that computer, that piece of paper…)
- That can also be used when talking about a class or type of person, such as “that” team
EXAMPLE:
People picnicking and vrewing the cherry blossoms at a Hanami party in Japam.
It takes places in September or October that each year to celebrate the harvest.
We Get Togetther with our relatives who we eat a lot
The train Stations are mobbed with people who eat a that traffic is imposibble
VOCABULARY
- set off fireworks.
- march in parades.
- have picnics.
- give gifts.
- pray.
GRAMMAR-ADJECTIVES CLAUSES WITH OBJECT WHO, THAT ,WHOM
These are the students who are going. (Who is the subject of the dependent clause.)
These are the students. Who are going. (They are going.)
Those are the students for whom I bought the tickets. (Whom is the object of the preposition for.)
Those are the students. I bought the tickets for whom. (I bought the tickets for them.)
